With the world as we know it on it’s head right now, I guess I’m not the only one in need of a few pick-me-uppers in an effort to feel anything like normal? I try to keep my hair care routine as natural as possible, as every time I add a conventional type shampoo into the mix my hair quickly feels dry, brittle and dandruff prone.
To help revive quarantine hair, as it were, and to refresh the scalp, a mixture of white vinegar, tea tree oil and lukewarm water goes a long way.
What you need:
- A small bottle (I use one that measures about 100ml)
- White vinegar
- Tea tree oil
How you do it:
- Fill your bottle half way up with the vinegar. Add approx. ten drops of tea tree oil and fill the rest of the bottle with water. Shake well right before use and distribute generously across scalp. Massage scalp and rinse.
Can be used once or twice a week for optimal effect.
- Alterations: You can adjust the drops of tea tree oil to your liking. The more drops, the more effective in terms of cleansing and reduction of dandruff. 5-20 drops is a good range. You can also swap the white vinegar for apple cider vinegar, and even change the oil to for example peppermint oil. I’ve used both with success.
In stressful times, such as these, practicing a little self care is important. ♥︎
A refreshing hair cleanse could be just the thing. What’s your go-to self care routine? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
